Winter Fashion: Color is Key
Winter can be such a drag. My natural instinct is to hibernate. Unfortunately one is still expected to venture out into the wild, i.e. the workplace. It’s doubly depressing when one is surrounded by a sea of grey and black garb.
Sooo…it’s time to brighten up our winter wardrobes! This winter I have taken a different approach. I have found that adding pops of color transform a regular outfit into something eye-catching AND I just FEEL better.
Try to find a few staple pieces if you aren’t totally prepared to revamp your wardrobe. I took advantage of the holiday sales. My current winer staples/recommendations are:
1)Dalyn Over the Knee Boots in Brandy
These boots have added so much life and spunk to my winer wardrobe. They are currently on-sale on Nordstroms.com
2. Choose a statement piece to transform your outfit.
This Padlock GG medium Shoulder Bag is an awesome staple to have in your closet. It adds a nice touch of color with a bit of class.

I previously posted about my Henri Bendel convertible backpack because it’s a handy travel bag that holds EVERYTHING! It also adds an extra touch of glam and color pop to brighten up those dark winter outer coats.
Your statement piece can also be a unique pair of shoes. It is super hard for me to find shoes because I wear a women’s US 11.5 which doesn’t exist, so I have to find an 11 that runs large or the rare size 12 :/
Thankfully I found these gems. Buyer beware, these shoes are NOT made for walking though. They are so cute, but I can’t stand (haha, pun intended) to wear them longer than like an hour. Sad.
Anyhow, they are Sylvie Leopard Print Calf Hair Pumps by Gucci
Statement pieces can elevate the standard black dress. For this cocktail party, we both chose staple black dresses. I elevated my look with my signature yellow bag (Henri Bendel) and a unique blue belt (from Sohung Designs -New York City- Chelsea Market). Elizabeth chose to accessorize with these gorgeous Valentino pumps. Pick your poison ladies 😉
3. Don’t be afraid to wear white. I used to always hear that it was taboo to wear white after Labor Day. However, no one ever mentioned when one could resume wearing white. I think white looks elegant in winter. Try sporting a white dress with tan accessories.
I love this Gabriella High-Low Dress by BCBG
Here is another white hot number from, you guessed it, BCBG. I swear I don’t work for them…yet, lol.
You don’t have to totally abandon your staple black pieces, just jazz them up a bit.
4. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your glam. Bright colors are IN this winter. Case in Point:
